Dalindeo - Open Scenes (2006)

A tremendous groover from the same jazzy scene that gave us the Five Corners Quintet a record that's filled with joy, life, and plenty of great jazz-based instrumentation! Like Five Corners, Dalindeo play all their instruments live working in a blend of funky flute, trumpet, guitar, bass, percussion, and drums all augmented by some great guest instrumentation throughout the whole album, expanding the sound with added horns and strings on most of the best numbers! The lovely Michiko sings on 3 of the album's tracks, but overall the sound is mostly instrumental club jazz-styled tunes that are heavy on the rhythms, but which still burst out with some really tremendous solo work over the top. There's a bit of a Brazilian flavor on some numbers, but all filtered through a straight ahead jazz sound that's heavy on 60s influences produced with just the right sound to maintain the classic feel of the instrumentation! Titles include "Empty Fruits", "Leviathan", "Non-Stop Flight", "Poseidon", "Vedenneito", "Helium", "Tsunami", "Open", "Samba Da-Li", "Voodoo", and "Sold Out". (by Ceolte)
