Wolfgang Lendle studied with H.J. Volkholz and A. Company, as well as with Jiri Jirmal at the Saarbrücken College of Music. He attended master classes of Andrés Segovia, Regino Saenz de la Maza, José Tomás and Alirio Díaz and worked up a considerable part of his earlier repertoire with the german pianist Martin Galling.
Lendle won the 15th national selection for the "Konzerte junger Künstler" series and the competitions Maria Canals (Barcelona 1969) and Francisco Tárrega (Benicasim 1974). In addition to concerts in almost all European countries and in the USA, Canada, and Japan, he has had enthusiastic receptions at music festivals in Cracow, Volos, Schwetzingen, Bordeaux, Mikulov, Bratislava, Cuernavaca (Mexico), Esztergom, Istambul, Tel Aviv and Havana.
Lendle has been conducting a class of international students at the Kassel Academy of Music since 1985 and regularly holds master classes at home and abroad. Since 1991 Lendle has been also the artistic director of the Hungarian International Esztergom Guitar Festival.
For many years now, Wolfgang Lendle has been one of the most interesting personalities in the international guitar scene. A common theme in press reviews of his concerts is that he exhibits " a very personal style of performing and always presents an interesting choice of programs, thus making any of his concerts a special event..." Critics often praise his musical intelligence and the liveliness of his playing as well as his breathtaking virtuosity. Besides his activity as a performer, Lendle is also active as a composer and arranger. Thus he continues a long and cherished musical tradition. He is also known internationally as a leading pedagogue. He is the director of the guitar class at the Music Academy of Kassel, a center of music education attracting students from many countries. He regularly conducts master classes in Germany and abroad.
This is his first solo album with fantastic music from spanish classical composers. Lendle is a real master of the acoustic guitar !
