Rainer Baumann & Kai Weirup - Guitars In Flagranti (1981)

Rainer Baumann was on the leading blues guitar player in Germany during the last decades. He played with groups like Frumpy or Randy Pie and musicians like Inga Rumpf, Jack Bruce, Champion Jack Dupree, Jutta Weinhold, Achim Reichel.

He was also a guitar teacher and published many books about guitar playing.

In 1981 he released one of his rarest solo - albums. This
one was recorded togeht with Kai Weirup, another German guitar player who was more or less a unknown musician.

Together they jammed in the studio ("This album was recorded live to cath the groove" - liner notes) through classic standards of jazz compositions from musicians like Kenny Burrell, Charlie Parker, Sonny Rollins or Horace Silver to name a few. This album was totally unexpected because Baumann was known for his heavy blues-rock guitar and a German newspaper called him "German Eric Clapton".

This album is for a lazy afternoon and you ´ll listen to this music again and again, because their sound is so pretty good !
