Thunder - They Think It´all Over ... It Is Now (2000)

Thunder must surely win the prize for most underrated and untapped band of the 90's. Despite some chart exposure, Thunder never received the critical acclaim or commercial success that their talents rightly deserved. Had commercial rock been the 90's darling, rather than Britpop, surely Thunder would have been our Oasis. The band built a strong following on the back of dynamic, high energy, live performances - for those fortunate enough to see the band live this album serves as a reminder, for those who weren't so lucky this will be your only chance to hear Daniel 'Danny' Bowes exceptional vocals coupled with an outstanding supporting cast. The material is a medley of favourites, taken from 'Backstreet Symphony' & 'Laughing on Judgement Day' plus some excellent covers of rock classics. There is nothing new or clever about Thunder's brand of rock, but if infectious & punchy rock melodies, top vocals, and cracking musicianship shake your tree, then this is a must for your collection. Wind up the volume, sit back and enjoy.......  (by Simon)

Date 4th May 2000, venue Dingwalls, Cambden Lock, London. It seems such a long time ago but once I had put this C.D. on and turned the volume up to ten I was back there with 600 others for a night of pure rock from one of the great band of the eighties. The first half consisted of an acoustic set which was very intimate and raw. A few covers, a couple of country tinged singalongs and a break for a video show that never materialised and then back with a full power rock show full of their very best. This album captures that night perfect, from the very dodgy Pinball Wizard to the emotional finale of Dirty Love where if you close your eyes you can still see Danny Bowe shaking his head in disbelief that this was really the end.
