Thomas Kessler is a NuJazz / Ambient / Electronica Composer and Synthesizer Artist from Duesseldorf/Germany. Born in 1962 he started in 19700 his musical education: classical piano, composing, jazz.
In 1986 he formed his "Thomas Kessler" group. This album called "Untiteld" is the second and last album of this group. They disbanded in 1994.
In later years he played with musicians like Charlie Mariano, Clive Stevens, Mel Collins, Rosko Gee (Can, Traffic) and Jaki Liebezeit amongst others.
This album is masterpiece of NuJazz/Ambient music and it´s a fine example of the unique and birlliant sound of Thomas Kessler.
Thomas Kessler about his musical influences:
"I get inspiration from all the people surrounding me. The first and maybe most important influence came from my older brother, when I was 9 years old and rehearsing blues licks at home on our old piano. I felt a deep admiration for him, as he already played in progressive rock bands at those times (the early seventies), and I payed a lot attention to his advices. He said: "Stop imitating and covering other peoples stuff. Create your own music! Firstly it may sound childish and less professional compared to these pre-fab songs, but later on you will be rewarded with the possession of your own musical language."
Other important influences on my musical work came from non-musicans: the art concept of legendary German artist Joseph Beuys is to be mentioned, or many creeds expressed by the Dalai-Lama: "Learn the rules. So you know how to break them properly"
