Mary Halvorson Trio - Jazzstudio Nürnberg (2012)

Mary Halvorson is an extremely talented guitarist who graduated from Wesleyan University in 2002. She has performed with various other artists, but formed her trio in 2008 with Jessica Pavone, Taylor Ho Bynum. The trio forms themselves around the jazz genre however add a different perspective within it. This band is able to step outside the traditional style of music and add elements to hold its audience. This band is a must-see!

In his review of her recent release, Bending Bridges, JazzTimes‘ Lloyd Sachs wrote, “It confirms Halvorson as an artist whose originality as a guitarist is no fiercer than her originality as a writer. Simply put, no one is making music like this… what a singular talent she is.”
